Ted Cruz of Florida and Paul Gosar of Arizona announced on Sunday that they would be entering self quarantine. Monday Doug Collins of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida announced that they too would be self quarantining after being exposed to Covid-19.
As of this afternoon there are currently three republican members of congress are self quarantining after coming into contact with an unnamed, infected individual at the Conservative Political Action Conference. On Sunday Paul Gosar, of Arizona and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, announced that they would be entering into self quarantine for the full 14 days. Ted Cruz stated that he had a "brief conversation and a handshake” with the infected individual.
Doug Collins and Matt Gaetz announced this afternoon that they were going into self quarantine after coming into contact with the same CPAC attendee with coronavirus. Last Wednesday, Florida Republican Representative Gaetz jokingly wore an exaggerated gas mask on the House floor when the chamber voted on a coronavirus spending bill. Matt Gaetz has said that he has not experienced any symptoms and he has been tested for coronavirus but the results have not come out yet. One Floridian of Gaetz district did pass away last week of Covid-19. Collins stated that a photo had surfaced of him shaking hands with the coronavirus positive patient from the conference.
This afternoon President Trump address the public during a white house briefing along with Mike Pence. When the president was asked if he was tested for the coronavirus after attending the CPAC conference and his response was to silently walk off of the stage. Mike Pence stated that he didn’t know if the president had been tested and that he himself had not been tested yet. The conference ended on February 29th so the interactions were well over ten days
Democrat Congress Rep. Julia Brownley of California announced Monday that she was going to enter a self quarantine as well. She was not an attendee of the CPAC conference. Recently a conronavirus screener at LAX tested positive for coronavirus eight days after working their last shift on Feb. 21. The Grand Princess passangers began to disembark Monday afternoon. Recently a Facebook contractor based in the Stadium East office in Seattle tested positive for coronavirus. An employee at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center socialized while awaiting for his Covid-19 test results to come back. The man had taken a recent trip to Italy and had been experiencing flu like symptoms. The test came back positive.
