With the encroaching holiday and many of the local restaurants in the city filling up faster than you can say Valentine’s Day. There’s so much emphasis that goes into spending nowadays, but more of us are still living paycheck to paycheck working a internship that doesn't even pay. If you haven't already made plans you may not only find yourself scrambling for something to do, but a low bank account. Here are a few ideas of how to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your loved one or friend for under $50 in the city of Chicago without looking like a cheapskate.
1. Jazz and Champagne
M Lounge is hosting a night of live music with performance artist, Simone Green. Slip away into the music with your lover or friend as Simone heats up the stage with jazzy love songs, blues, R&B and house. You can enjoy her music and sip on a complimentary glass of champagne and sweets buffet. Let’s not forget, roses for the ladies, of course. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. $20 per person.

It may seem cheesy, but us Chicagoans do love our burgers and alcohol, so when the two can be paired it seems fantastical. After a delicious burger at the Shake Shake on Michigan Ave. inside of the Chicago Athletic Association (and hopefully you're now a bit buzzed), venture inside the Chicago Athletic Association where you can see the old pool just a few steps above the first floor and then to the second floor where there you can enjoy the vintage aesthetics of the building that existed since the 1800’s.

The original pool that is located just steps below the lobby that is located on the second floor and also known as the Milk Room. Here they will be transforming their basketball court into a roller skating rink where you can circle the court to LL Cool J.
